EXPOCOMER 2022
Export Barbados was among the agencies exhibiting at the Expocomer International Trade Exhibition in Panama from March 23-26. Hosted by the Panama Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture, the multisector exhibition sought to promote trade and provide investment opportunities for attendees and exhibitors.
Business Development Officer Sharon Walton facilitated the participation of three Barbadian manufacturers, including Roberts Manufacturing Co. Limited, Caribbean Label Crafts Ltd., and Solar Dynamics Ltd. She explained that given the company’s mandate to grow exports to $1 billion by 2030, the corporation was seeking out all avenues to expose local exporters to new market opportunities. “We plan to grow our exports by focusing on the bio sciences and on clean technologies, and to this end I was pleased to have one of the forerunners in solar energy on the island along on this mission as well as perennial exporters such as Roberts Manufacturing and Caribbean Label Crafts,” Walton said.
This year, the thirty-eighth edition of EXPOCOMER focused on three main categories: Food, Beverage and Agricultural Products; Textile, Clothes and Accessories; and Technology and Electronics. Expocomer spanned a total exhibition area of over 15,500 square meters, with participation from approximately 30 countries, distributed across more than 500 exhibition booths.
In addition to participating in Expocomer, members of the group attended meetings with Panama Pacifico, and the Panama Ministry of Energy.
The Barbadian manufacturers reported that they have benefitted by participating and have generated substantial contacts which could lead to increased business within that market.
